SINCE IT'S OPENING ALMOST A DECADE AGO, Pieces, Inc. has gained a following of design enthusiasts seeking hard-to-find furnishings and accessories with a sophisticated yet playful verve. Now, the chic West Buckhead boutique can count Kelly Wearstler as a fan. The young, Los Angeles-based design icon- also known for her equally stylish and bold aesthetic- has selected Pieces, Inc., as one of only 12 international locations to carry her luxe home accessories line. "Its's such a great fit for our store," says proprietress Lee Kleinhelter. "Kelly really pushes the boundaries of design and it's a honor to be recognized for creating a unique shop that also strives for originality." In addition to selling the designer's contemporary homewares, Kleinhelter can also work with clients to place customized order for any Wearstler design-from lounge chairs to sculptures- they've seen in books or magazines.

Owner Lee Kleinhelter sources vintage furniture from around the world, and then restyles each piece with bright contemporary fabrics and paint.
Designed for relaxing and listening to music, this chic haven is a space to sink into after a chaotic workday. Handsome and comfortable, it incorporates the unexpected pop of color that is a signature of this Atlanta-based designer's aesthetic. Combining surprising ingredients, Kleinhelter worked with a mix of USM Modular Furniture and items from Pieces, her own boutique, to outfit the room. "USM makes modular furniture that can be used in an spaces," she says. "We showed their fantastic storage solutions without it looking like a work environment. Vintage elements and natural materials pair well with more modern furnishings." Oversize gourd lamps with custom yellow shades and metal sea urchins wall art bring this dramatic room to life.
Since 2004, Pieces — a charming home store in the Buckhead district of Atlanta — has been offering a carefully curated mix of (mostly) vintage items that have been reupholstered, repainted, and reworked into one-of-a-kind, well, pieces. Carrying everything from chandeliers to tables and cabinets, designer and proprietor Lee Kleinhelter wanted to find a happy medium market for those who don't want to shell out major bucks for pricey antiques, but also don't want to settle for IKEA (not that there's anything wrong with a little IKEA).

Lee Kleinhelter She's an unabashed "obsessive-compulsive stylist," taking on anything in sight - right down to her son's toy box. "It's an illness I've happened to parlay into a career," laughs Kleinhelter, owner of Pieces, the Buckhead hot spot known for clean-lined furnishings with a twist. "I'm just passionate about the visual; I really, really love good design." This trailblazer was only in her 20's when she realized her passion for styling and product, as well as he penchant to reimagine vintage finds. "Over the past siz years it's just evolved. We've learned a lot of things the hard way, by trial and error, but mostly it's been a smash hit and we've developed a following that I'm grateful for. I made the leap because I was young and naive enough to think I could do it. Thank goodness I did."
